Happy New Year to all, from all at Lakeview Farm Meats

A quick article to say  greetings to all and to give you a quick re-cap of another great year at Lakeview Farm Meats Ltd (LVFM).  Working closely with our staff, suppliers and customers, we have gone from strength to strength here at LVFM (Northern Irelands newest Abattoir/ Red meat plant).

In 2012 we welcomed on board David Kelly and Thomas McAllister.  David has a wealth of experience in the red meat sector, specialising in the boning out of animals.  David had been working with us on a part-time basis but decided to make the move full time having enjoyed his experiences with us so much.  He is a truely dedicated professional who is willing to match any customers’ requirements in the way their animals are to be boned out or trimmed.  He brings over twenty years of experience to LVFM.

Thomas’ career started slightly before Davids’, 37 years ago.  Having left school Thomas started working in the Belfast Municipal Abattoir where he became a line supervisor.  Thomas, over the years, has worked in all areas of the trade, having worked in and owned a butchers shop, until begining work for Calf Marketing Services and Langford Processors, where he also worked as a supevisor. His experience shows as he can work on the line or in the boning hall, trimming meat  to exacting standards etc., but more importantly he is enthusiastic about  training the younger members of staff, something he is passionate about.   Not only does Thomas “show how to do”  but he also explains why certain methods are used.

Having the great experience our staff bring, combined with a brand new facility, LVFM has become the first port of call for our customers when they are looking for high quality beef and lamb.  A great example of this was when nearly 30% of animals sold at Allams Christmas Livestock Show (the premium commercial cattle sale in N.Ireland) were processed at LVFM.  This is a remarkable achievement when you consider the abattoir is only 18months old.  But don’t take my word for it, The Farming life and Farmers Weekly as well as other local and trade papers/magazines published a great article just before Christmas about this success which you can find in the news section of the website.
